Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is India's central agency responsible for conducting examinations and recruiting officers for the country's top civil, defence, and technical services. The Preliminary Examination is an objective-type screening test that qualifies candidates for the next stage but whose marks are not counted for final ranking. Shortlisted candidates then appear for a Personality Test/Interview, assessing suitability for public service beyond academic knowledge.
