Description

A Ration Card is the document issued by the Government of Assam for obtaining benefits under the Public Distribution System (PDS). Under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) 2013, Assam issues two types of ration cards: Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) and Priority Household (PHH). A family without a ration card can apply through its eldest woman, who must be a bonafide citizen of India with an annual family income of less than Rs. 4,00,000 and must meet the NFSA beneficiary criteria. If there is no adult female member, the eldest male member may apply. The application is submitted on Proforma-C to the FPD&CA authority of the District/Sub-Division (C). The department also handles duplicate, separate and transfer-related ration card requests.
