Physical Standards: PST & PET
All 17 trades require candidates to clear a Physical Standard Test and a Physical Efficiency Test before the written exam.

Weight must be proportionate to height and age as per medical standards. The Physical Efficiency Test (PET) requires a 5 km run within 24 minutes (all-India, except the Ladakh region, where it is a 1.6 km run within 7 minutes). PST/PET is RFID-based and will be conducted at Jorhat or Diphu in Assam; exact reporting dates will be announced on the official website after the application window closes.
Selection Process
- RFID-based PST & PET: Height, chest and weight measurement, followed by the qualifying run.
- Document Verification (DV): Conducted alongside PST/PET reporting.
- Computer Based Test (CBT): 100-mark objective paper. Minimum qualifying marks are 35% for General/EWS candidates and 33% for SC/ST/OBC candidates.
- Trade Skill Test: A computer-based trade test plus a practical skill test. It is purely qualifying (pass/fail), with candidates shortlisted at roughly 4 times the vacancies per trade/category based on CBT merit.
- Detailed Medical Examination (DME) & Review Medical Examination (RME): As per the uniform CAPF/Assam Rifles medical guidelines.

Salary and Career Growth
The notification specifies that pay and allowances follow the scale applicable to Assam Rifles personnel, without stating exact pay-matrix figures. In practice, Rifleman-rank entrants typically start on Level-3 of the 7th CPC pay matrix (around ₹21,700–₹69,100 basic), while Havildar and Warrant Officer entrants draw correspondingly higher levels. Personnel also receive Dearness Allowance, Ration Money, and Special/Hardship Duty Allowances for border and North-East postings, along with free accommodation in unit lines, CAPF medical cover, and National Pension System coverage. Selected candidates serve a 2-year probation; those who withdraw from training or resign prematurely must refund the full training cost or three months’ pay and allowances.
