The Directorate of Land Records & Surveys, Assam has invited fresh online applications for 579 Land Record Assistant (LRA) posts under the amalgamated establishments of District Commissioners' offices (excluding Sixth Schedule areas). Applications open at 11 AM on 21 September 2026 and close at 5 PM on 21 October 2026 on the official portal, sebaonline.org.
This new advertisement replaces the earlier notice for 552 posts issued in March 2026. If you already applied under that notice, read the update below, because you will need to apply again.

Important Update: Earlier 552-Post Notice Cancelled
The March 2026 advertisement for 552 LRA posts has been cancelled. Under the new notice, all candidates, including those who applied earlier, must submit a fresh online application between 21 September and 21 October 2026. The recruitment is being held under the Assam Land Records Sub-Ordinate Service Rules, 2023, as relaxed by Government Notification No. LA&A/429557/158 dated 13 August 2026.

Reservation also applies for persons with disabilities (16 posts: 7 for PH-A, 3 for PH-B, 4 for PH-C and 2 for PH-D) and for ex-servicemen (6 posts). The distribution is based on vacancies reported by District Commissioners, excluding Sixth Schedule areas.
Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
Candidates must have passed HSLC (Class 10) or an equivalent examination from a recognised Central or State Board.
RCCC Training (Mandatory)
Candidates must have completed the six-month Recorders Certificate Class Course (RCCC) at the Assam Survey & Settlement Training Centre, Dakhingaon, Guwahati, and been declared proficient in both Survey and Settlement subjects through an official result issued by the Director of Land Records & Surveys, Assam, before the commencement of Government Notification No. LA&A/429557/158 dated 13 August 2026.
Computer Proficiency
Candidates must be proficient in using computers, with a minimum typing speed of 30 words per minute in English and 15 words per minute in Assamese or Bengali.
Age Limit
Candidates must be between 21 and 40 years as on 1 January 2026. Upper age relaxation for reserved categories applies as per Government OM No. ABP.6/2016/51 dated 2 September 2020. Age is calculated from the Class 10 or Class 12 Admit Card, Pass Certificate or Mark Sheet issued by a recognised Central or State Board or Council, provided the date of birth is clearly mentioned.
Serving Government Employees
Candidates already working under the Central or State Government must apply through proper channel and produce a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their Head of Department during document verification.
Selection Process
Selection has two stages: a written examination and a computer skill test. Candidates who secure the prescribed qualifying marks in the written exam and are shortlisted in the ratio decided by the Selection Board will be called for the skill test.
Paper I: Written Examination (80 Marks)
The written paper is objective type with multiple-choice questions. Each wrong answer carries a negative mark of 0.25.

Paper II: Skill Test (20 Marks)
A practical computer proficiency test assessing English typing and Assamese or Bengali typing.

The final merit list is prepared from the aggregate marks in the written examination and the skill test, subject to securing the minimum qualifying marks in both and meeting all eligibility conditions at document verification. Selection follows merit and category-wise reservation.
Salary
Selected candidates are placed in PB-2 (₹14,000 – ₹70,000) with Grade Pay of ₹6,200, along with the usual allowances admissible under Government of Assam rules.
How to Apply for LRA Recruitment 2026
Applications are accepted only online. No other mode of application will be accepted.
- Visit sebaonline.org. The application window opens at 11 AM on 21 September 2026.
- Register (or log in if you already have an account) and read the application instructions carefully.
- Fill in the online application form.
- Upload your recent passport-size colour photograph, signature and RCCC passed certificate in the size mentioned in the instructions.
- Review all entered details and submit the form before 5 PM on 21 October 2026.
- Take a printout of the submitted application form and keep it safe. You will need the hard copy at document verification.
Documents Required for Verification
Shortlisted candidates must produce originals along with self-attested copies of the following on the notified date:
- Hard copy of the online application form
- Class 10 or Class 12 Admit Card, Pass Certificate or Mark Sheet showing date of birth
- Certificates and mark sheets of all examinations from HSLC or equivalent onwards
- RCCC pass certificate
- Caste certificate (for SC, ST, OBC, MOBC or OBC (T) candidates)
- Physically Handicapped certificate, if applicable
- No Objection Certificate from the Head of Department (for serving government employees)
- Declaration Form-A under the Small Family norms
- Documentary evidence for any other claim made in the application

Tips Before You Apply
- Don't wait for the last week. Government portals slow down close to the deadline.
- Keep scans ready. Your photo, signature and RCCC certificate should be clear and within the size limits. Avedan's document locker lets you store them once and reuse them for future applications.

- Prepare for survey. Conventional and Modern Survey carry 70 of the 80 written marks, so focus your revision there.
