RRB Para Medical Staff Recruitment 2026 is open. The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have invited online applications under CEN No. 05/2026 for 590 paramedical posts across nine categories, including Nursing Superintendent, Pharmacist, Radiographer, Lab Assistant and Health & Malaria Inspector. The online form opened on 15 September 2026 and closes on 14 October 2026 (23:59 hrs).

Why do some websites say 560 posts? The Railway Board's earlier short notice mentioned about 560 tentative vacancies. The detailed CEN 05/2026, released on 14 September 2026, lists 590 vacancies, and that is the figure used throughout this article.

You can apply to only one RRB, so compare the numbers before you choose. Kolkata, Secunderabad, Chennai and Mumbai have the largest share. If you are in Assam or the North East, RRB Guwahati has 29 vacancies.

Vacancies are provisional and can increase, decrease or become nil depending on railway requirements. The category-wise split (UR, SC, ST, OBC, EWS) for each RRB is given in the official notification.

Educational qualification
Qualification differs for every post. You must hold the prescribed qualification by the closing date, and candidates still waiting for the final result of the required course are not eligible.

Age relaxation
- SC / ST: 5 years
- OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years
- PwBD (UR / EWS): 10 years
- PwBD (OBC-NCL): 13 years

Relaxations are not added together: you get the single highest one that applies to you. Candidates from SC, ST or OBC-NCL categories who apply against unreserved vacancies do not get age relaxation.

All posts are Group C posts paid under the 7th Pay Commission matrix, from Level 3 to Level 7, along with other allowances admissible to railway employees.

RRB Para Medical application fee
The fee must be paid online through UPI, net banking or cards. A large part of it comes back to you if you actually appear in the CBT.

The last date for fee payment is 16 October 2026. An application without a completed fee payment is not counted.
Selection process and exam pattern
Selection has three stages: a Computer Based Test (CBT), Document Verification (DV) and a Medical Examination (ME). The notification does not list an interview or a physical efficiency test.
- CBT: a single-stage objective test. Candidates are shortlisted RRB-wise for DV in a 1:1 ratio to the vacancies, based on CBT merit. Marks are normalised if the test runs in multiple shifts.
- Document Verification: your original certificates are checked against your application.
- Medical Examination: conducted as per the medical standard of the post. Candidates who are medically unfit are not offered an alternative post.
- Final empanelment: based on CBT merit, subject to DV and medical fitness.

- Duration: 90 minutes (120 minutes for eligible PwBD candidates using a scribe)
- Negative marking: one-third of a mark for every wrong answer
- Minimum qualifying marks: UR and EWS 40%, OBC-NCL and SC 30%, ST 25%
Professional Ability carries 70% of the paper and is based on your own field, whether nursing, pharmacy, laboratory work or radiography, so it decides most rankings. Spend the bulk of your preparation time there.
How to apply for RRB Para Medical Recruitment 2026
- Open the official RRB application portal at rrbapply.gov.in and find the CEN 05/2026 application link.
- Create an account with your own mobile number and email ID. Both are permanent, so use ones you will keep.
- Complete the identity verification step shown in the application system.
- Select one RRB and set your post preferences carefully. The chosen RRB cannot be changed later.
- Fill in personal and educational details exactly as they appear on your certificates.
- Capture your photograph as instructed, and upload your signature and any required certificates in the prescribed format and size.
- Choose your CBT language and pay the fee online before 16 October 2026.
- Review every field, submit the form and save the confirmation page.
Warning: submitting more than one application, whether to different RRBs or to the same RRB, can lead to rejection of all your applications. Errors can be corrected only in the modification window from 17 to 26 October 2026, and account details and the chosen RRB cannot be changed even then.

Documents required
Keep scanned copies ready for the online form and originals ready for Document Verification:
- 10th (Matriculation) certificate for name and date of birth
- Educational and professional certificates for the post, plus council or pharmacy registration where required
- Caste, community or EWS certificate in the prescribed format, if you claim reservation
- EBC or minority community certificate, if you claim the fee concession
- PwBD certificate (with UDID) or Ex-Servicemen discharge certificate, if applicable
- Aadhaar card, which is also linked to fee refunds
- No-objection certificate from your employer, if you already work in a government or PSU job
- Recent photograph and signature

Tips before you apply
- Choose your RRB with competition in mind. Vacancies range from 5 to 98 per RRB, and you cannot switch after submission.
- Check your registration first. Nursing, pharmacy, optometry and audiology posts need valid council registration, so confirm yours before you pay.
- Verify your age on 1 January 2027, not on the day you apply.
- Start Professional Ability preparation now. The CBT date is not announced, so the safest plan is to prepare while the form is still open.
- Use the official website only. RRBs never ask for money outside the official application portal.
